Mamis Caffè Deca Coffee
The enjoyable relaxed
Mamis Caffè Deca Coffee offers relaxed enjoyment any time of day or night. It's clearly the most relaxing type in our range. The Arabica beans used were decaffeinated before roasting, resulting in a caffeine content of less than 0.1%.
Apart from that, this authentic Italian coffee has everything you'd expect from a Mamis Caffè product: excellent aroma and outstanding flavor. The balanced roast impresses with notes of chocolate and a nutty undertone.
What is the DCM procedure?
The DCM process is a chemical decaffeination process in which caffeine is removed from coffee using dichloromethane (DCM) . DCM is a volatile solvent that specifically extracts caffeine molecules from the beans.
How does it work?
- The raw coffee beans are first soaked with steam or water.
- They are then rinsed with dichloromethane, which selectively dissolves the caffeine.
- The solvent is completely removed (at temperatures at which DCM evaporates).
- What remains are decaffeinated beans – the coffee contains only minimal traces of DCM, which are strictly regulated and harmless by law.
Why is this procedure controversial?
Although a health risk only exists through direct contact or inhalation of high concentrations, DCM is viewed with skepticism in some countries. The fact is: The residues in decaffeinated coffee are subject to strict limits and are considered completely harmless at the permitted levels.
We use this procedure out of conviction
The DCM process is a proven, particularly efficient, and aroma-preserving method for decaffeinating coffee. At MAMIS CAFFÈ, we deliberately use this method because it delivers excellent results and guarantees absolutely safe residue levels. The amount of dichloromethane used is well below the legally permitted limits – an independent test confirms that the coffee is safe for health and retains its natural flavor.

Do you have any further questions?
No. Dichloromethane (DCM) is used only briefly during decaffeination and then completely removed. Our coffee contains residues below the legal EU limits – and is therefore well below the level that poses a health risk . The process is internationally approved and is considered particularly flavor-preserving .
Our decaffeinated espresso boasts a full body and a round, smooth aroma —without the typical "empty" notes found in many decafs. This is because our process preserves the beans' complex aroma profile while removing only the caffeine.
Our decaffeinated coffee contains less than 0.1% residual caffeine , which is considered caffeine-free according to EU regulations. This equates to approximately 2–3 mg of caffeine per cup – compared to around 80 mg in a regular espresso. So you can enjoy our decaf without worry , even in the evening or if you're sensitive to caffeine .
